          DINOSAURS

A long time ago, in the Mesozoic Era, lived huge reptiles that roamed the world. Those reptiles ate and killed one another. Others ate plants peacefully. Those ancient reptiles were known as dinosaurs.  The word ‘dinosaur’ actually means ‘terrible lizard’. Deino as in ‘terrible’ and saur as in ‘lizard’. But of course, dinosaurs were not lizards. They are only huge reptiles.Earth, at that time, had no continents at all.

There was only one whole continent called Pangaea which dinosaurs roamed. Dinosaurs were both meat-eaters and plant-eaters and walked on two and four legs. Today, there are no such things as dinosaurs. I will tell you why later The Mesozoic Era can be divided into three parts: Trassic, Jurassic and Craterous. In the Trassic Period, the first diosaurs were formed from the sea. This included Plesiosaurus, Elasmosaurus, Mozasaur and many more.

The Jurassic period was the time where the Pterosaurs were formed. Tyrannosaurus Rex also existed at that time. There was a movie called ‘Jurassic Park’, which shows what will happen if people existed during the Jurassic Period. That is why it is the most popular of the three periods.

The Craterous Period, the second most popular, was the time where the dinosaurs died out and became extinct. The Triceratops, Stegosaurus, T.Rex and the Sauropods existed at that time.

Fossils were the remainings of animals which died. Droppings, footprints and even teeth can describe a dinosaur clearly. The first step of fossilization is that the corpse gets buried in Sediment over and over again. It is then decomposed later.

There are many theories of why dinosaurs died. The climate may have became colder and the dinosaurs, which were used to the warm climate, died. Another theory is that a gigantic meteorite crashed into earth, and killed them off. However, the thousands of clues found do not explain the Mesozoic Era completely. There are still many mysteries waiting to be discovered.
